Hopefully, things will be better in 2013. A car accident last Sunday morning claimed another two lives. They were the 76th and 77th traffic related fatalities of the year in the Metro Las Vegas area. Though it is only August, that is already more than all of 2011.
The latest accident was a single car rollover accident. According to police, the car struck a palm tree near Centennial Center Boulevard in Northwest Las Vegas. Two men died at the scene. The third accident victim, a woman, was taken to the University Medical Center with critical injuries. There were initial reports that the vehicle was racing another car but witnesses later said their was no racing. The accident is under investigation.
The discouraging level of traffic deaths in 2012 has disappointed local residents and officials. Every year Metro police and Las Vegas' leaders strive for safer streets. Some things, unfortunately, are beyond their control. Car accidents are a prime example. No matter how safe we drive or how diligent we are about not drinking or texting while we drive, it only takes one moment for an accident to change someone's life.
The spike in traffic fatalities is a reminder to drive safe and be careful on the roadways. If an accident does occur, though, victims and their families are not alone. Local Las Vegas attorneys have experience helping victims get back on their feet after an accident. From medical care to money for lost income, an attorney can help secure a financial award that fully compensates victims and their families for the pain and suffering that an accident has caused.
